7. Building the schedule

By asking and answering all these questions before using the tool, or during the creation of the initial schedule, the planner will build a schedule tailored to the project's exact needs. This will reduce the amount of work required for updates, and deliver the right documents to the various stakeholders (customers, subcontractors, project manager).

The aim is to think of planning in terms of deliverables that enable effective communication, rather than as a database for calculating a critical path.

This initial schedule, which constitutes the "base line", will be updated periodically by the planner, who will organize various meetings with the business correspondents in order to obtain the percentage of completion for each activity, and estimates of the "work remaining to be done", and thus confirm or not the initial schedule, or modify...
