There are many planning software packages available, with varying degrees of user-friendliness, completeness and cost.

In order to go beyond the simple Excel spreadsheet sometimes used, but which has the disadvantage of not linking tasks or being interactive to define the project end date, the following tools can already be used to build a serious and complete schedule:
